Trilio is a multilingual real-time chat application. We translate messages automatically so people who speak different languages can communicate freely. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Phone number — used for account registration and login (OTP verification).
- Display name — the name you choose to show to other users.
- Profile photo — optional; uploaded by you.
- Native language preference — used to determine your translation language.
- Messages and media — text messages, voice notes, images, and PDF files you send or receive. All message content is stored encrypted at rest.
- Device push token (FCM) — used to deliver push notifications to your device.
- Usage data — timestamps, message status (sent/delivered/read), and connection metadata.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To deliver messages in real time between conversation participants.
- To automatically translate messages into each participant's preferred language using AI.
- To send push notifications when you receive new messages.
- To enable voice message transcription (speech-to-text).
- To provide an AI assistant that can answer questions about your conversations.
- To maintain service security and prevent abuse.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to power the app:
- Anthropic (Claude API) — for AI-powered message translation and the in-app AI assistant. Messages may be processed by Anthropic's servers. See Anthropic Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase (FCM) — for push notifications. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Google Play — for app distribution on Android.
Each third party is contractually bound to handle your data securely and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
4. Data Storage and Security
- All message content is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
- Real-time message delivery uses encrypted WebSocket connections.
- Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
- We regularly review our security practices to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data and messages for as long as your account is active. You may delete messages within the app at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at privacy@trilyo.app.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Export your data in a portable format.

7. Children's Privacy
Trilio is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence. By using Trilio, you consent to the transfer of your information to facilities in countries that may have different data protection laws than your country. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for all international transfers.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Trilio after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
